The Thoracic Surgery Department (TSD) offers diagnostics and treatment of surgical diseases of the thorax – planned or emergency for oncological or non-oncological diseases. These include all diseases of the chest wall, pleura, lungs, trachea and bronchi, mediastinum, diaphragm and the esophagus. According to the medical standards for thoracic surgery this is a second-level unit and provides the following services: planned or emergency major, medium or small thoracic surgery.
The TSD has 14 multifunctional beds according to the standards in surgery and thoracic surgery.
The TSD has:
- Operating room for septic surgery
- Operating room for aseptic surgery
- Small operating room for minor thorax interventions which functions as a diagnostic consultative unit
- Equipment for video assisted thoracoscopy and mediastinoscopy
- Equipment for bronchoscopy
- Clinical laboratory
- Laboratory for pathophysiology of breathing
- Section for bronchoscopy
- Unit for imaging diagnostics including standard x-ray analysis, mammography, contrast studies, tests of vessels
- Echography room
- Computer tomography equipment
- Clinical pathology unit with a cytology laboratory for cytological, pathohistological and express histological and immunohistological tests
- Nuclear medicine unit for bone scintigraphy and lung perfusion scintigraphy
